Spaces For Play, INC (SFP) is a woman-owned educationally based business with over 25 years of experience in the design and construction of over 2300 educational playgrounds. We represent the world’s leaders in using sustainable recycled plastic that looks like natural wood for commercial playground equipment. Our products are 100% made in the USA and help provide jobs within local communities. Our philosophy is to create learning environments for aspiring young children. Each client will be provided with a custom design to fit their program’s needs and we will work hand in hand to bring your playground dreams to reality. SFP is the all-inclusive option for designs, equipment, surfacing, installation, and project management.

Custom Playground Designs

Spaces For Play's designs support educational goals and incorporate play theory into practice. These components combine to form an accessible learning center that invigorates and motivates children and teachers in the outdoor natural environments.

SFP will design a custom Auto CAD design to create new or enhance existing play areas. These Auto CAD designs provide equipment, surfacing, and installation information needed to develop a detailed, priced project proposal. SFP will also provide photos of the proposed equipment to help clients visualize the equipment. SFP also offers 3D conceptual renderings of infant-toddler to school-age play structures. All SFP designs meet or exceed all federal and state playground safety, accessibility, and licensing standards.

Our Design Team

Sara L. Kreiss

FOUNDER/PRESIDENT SPACES FOR PLAY, INC
EC/Elem., MA, CPSI, NPPS

Sara is an educational design consultant and founder of Spaces for Play, INC. Her 39 years of experience includes teaching young children and university students. Sara has published educational articles and speaks at various conferences about playground design, safety, and accessibility for outdoor natural learning environments.

In addition to her advanced degrees in education, she remains current as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) by completing recertification every three years, and is certified with the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS).

Sara is currently a collaborator with Childspace Early Learning in Zealand. Additionally, Sara has participated in the international forum, presented by Reggio Children in Reggio Emilia, Italy. She has attended conferences in New Zealand and Australia, as well as having engaged in a training program with Nature Explore. To continue her studies of "Nature Preschools," Sara traveled to Scotland, Ireland, Prague, and Waldkindergarten in Berlin, Germany (Forest Schools).

Currently, Spaces For Play averages between 75-100, or $3.5-5.7 million, in annual projects. Sara has created over 2300 custom play environments throughout her 25 year playground career. Many of these projects have been developed for child care centers, schools, military bases, and public parks.

Rose has been a project manager and AutoCAD technician with Spaces For Play, INC for the past three years. In her time with SFP, Rose has overseen the creation of many playgrounds from the design devethrough the installation. As a CPSI certified playground inspector, she designs all playgrounds to comply with local and federal guidelines.
